Former Singaporean Foreign Minister Yang Rongwen and his delegation visited Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cell Valley
On May 24,2025, former Singaporean Foreign Minister Yang Rongwen and his delegation visited Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cell Valley (Shenzhen) Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cell Valley"). The visit focused on exploring international cooperation potential in the cell therapy sector, aiming to deepen biotechnology collaboration between China and Singapore while injecting new momentum into medical innovation partnerships between Qianhai and Southeast Asia.

Shi Yuanyuan, founder of the company, stated that Qianhai's policy incentives and international business environment have provided an "accelerator" for corporate development. As a pioneer in national policy trials, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cell Valley is among China's first enterprises to master industrial-scale production technology for industrial-grade retroviral vectors. Its establishment marks the first implementation of foreign investment access policies in the cell and gene therapy sector within the Qianhai Free Trade Zone. In September 2024, the Ministry of Commerce, National Health Commission, and National Medical Products Administration jointly issued a policy allowing foreign-funded enterprises to develop and apply technologies such as human stem cells and genetic diagnostics within the free trade zone. Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cell Valley stands as Guangdong Province's inaugural demonstration project under this policy, aiming to establish a global one-stop cell therapy service platform covering diverse application scenarios including medical aesthetics, anti-aging treatments, and cancer therapies.
Mr.Yang Rongwen and his wife's recent visit not only demonstrates their high recognition of Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cell Valley's technological capabilities, but also reflects Singapore's growing focus on the biomedical industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. As the author of "Meditations Under the Banyan Tree: Selected Speeches by Yang Rongwen", Yang has accumulated extensive experience in Southeast Asian diplomatic affairs, which aligns perfectly with Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cell Valley's internationalization strategy. With deepening exchanges between China and Singapore in cell therapy, the Greater Bay Area is poised to become a new global hub for biomedical innovation, enabling more patients to benefit from cutting-edge medical technologies. As Yang Rongwen aptly put it: "Technology knows no borders, but requires diplomatic wisdom and institutional innovation to pave its way."
