Director Zhang Lin of Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Bureau visited Shenzhen Cell Valley
Recently, a delegation led by Zhang Lin, Party Secretary and Director of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology Innovation; Huang Wei, Director of the Department of Social Development and Science & Technology; Zhan Dishen, Deputy Director; Yang Tao, Member of the Standing Committee and Deputy District Mayor of Pingshan District; Liu Yingjie, Director of the District Science and Technology Innovation Bureau; and members from the "Shenzhen Medical Academy Special Project" team visited Shenzhen Cell Valley for an inspection tour. The delegation was warmly received by Professor Shi Yuanyuan, Chairman and General Manager of Shenzhen Cell Valley; Chief Scientist Wang Jianxun; Wei Zheng, Director of Administrative Affairs; Zhao Lijun, Director of R&D; Sun Rui, Director of Marketing; Li Zhi, Director of Finance; and Fu Yuchen, Assistant to the Chairman. A symposium was subsequently held to discuss collaborative initiatives.
Under the introduction of Shi Yuanyuan, the visiting leaders visited the smart exhibition hall of Shenzhen Cell Valley, and had an in-depth understanding of the development history, construction status, strategic planning and core products of Shenzhen Cell Valley. Subsequently, the leaders and a delegation visited the GMP production workshop of Shenzhen Cell Valley.
At the symposium, Chairman Shi Yuanyuan extended a warm welcome to all attending leaders and delivered a comprehensive presentation on the company's innovative developments in cell therapy. As a key public service platform for Shenzhen's biopharmaceutical industry, Shenzhen Cell Valley boasts China's top-tier industrial production technology for retroviral vectors, with viral packaging efficiency and stability reaching international advanced levels. Building on its three years of expertise in cell therapy, the platform has been recognized as a Shenzhen Major Project in 2022, a Key Biopharmaceutical Public Service Platform by Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission in 2023, a High-Level Talent Team in 2024, and an Industry Mentor Team for Vocational Colleges by Guangdong Provincial Department of Education in 2025. It has also established talent training bases with multiple universities to deepen industry-education integration. Addressing future development, Chairman Shi proposed suggestions from an enterprise perspective regarding early-stage research, IIT special programs, and policy implementation, expressing hope for support from municipal and district science and innovation authorities. Shi emphasized that Shenzhen Cell Valley is committed to collaborating with government agencies, educational institutions, and industry partners to drive breakthroughs in cell therapy development, contributing to establishing Shenzhen as a global hub for biomedical innovation.
Zhang Lin, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission, stated that the research focused on multiple aspects including industrial development status, technological innovation and collaboration, policy and services, industry supervision and safeguards, as well as industrial upgrading and development. He encouraged enterprises to strengthen cooperation with international advanced companies and research institutions, expand into international markets, and promote the rapid development of Shenzhen's biopharmaceutical industry. In his concluding remarks, Director Zhang acknowledged the achievements of Shenzhen Cell Valley in cell therapy and noted that its development strategy aligns closely with the research objectives of municipal and district science and technology innovation commissions. Director Zhang emphasized that based on the research findings, municipal and district science and technology innovation commissions will further optimize policy support and enhance service guarantees to help enterprises like Shenzhen Cell Valley improve their core competitiveness. Meanwhile, the government will continue to promote collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research institutions, strengthen industry supervision, facilitate healthy and orderly development of the biopharmaceutical industry, support cell and gene therapy enterprises in playing a greater role on the Greater Bay Area and global stage, and drive Shenzhen's biopharmaceutical industry to reach higher levels.
